Location: Northern

  • Design, implement, and administer databases, including security, access control, and documentation
  • Administer SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL databases
  • Perform database performance tuning, backup and recovery, patching, and troubleshooting
  • Provision, manage, and monitor AWS databases, particularly Amazon RDS
  • Develop and maintain Power Shell scripts and automation for database administration, patching, and configuration
  • Design database access methods, batch processes, validation checks, ETL tasks, security controls, and statistical methods
  • Prepare system requirements, source analysis, and process analyses during database implementation
  • Define database organization, standards, controls, procedures, and documentation
  • Provide technical input into database environment design and creation
  • Advise application development staff and users on database solutions, capabilities, operation, and tuning
  • Coordinate database maintenance windows with minimal production disruption
  • Optimize EC2 instance sizing, EBS volume type and IOPS, and database workload storage and compute
  • Maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery configurations and participate in restore testing
  • Maintain current knowledge of database technology
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience in an IT-related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience translating stakeholder requirements into database solutions
  • Hands-on administration of SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL databases
  • Experience administering AWS databases, including provisioning and monitoring
  • Experience with database patching, backup/recovery, and performance tuning
  • Working knowledge of Power Shell scripting and automation
  • Understanding of relational database architecture
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust
  • Experience managing infrastructure code in Git Hub or comparable Git-based version control
  • Experience with application teams and stakeholders
  • Local candidates strongly preferred
  • Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified, or comparable database certification (preferred)
  • AWS certification such as AWS Certified Sys Ops Administrator or Solutions Architect – Associate (preferred)
  • Experience with Amazon RDS (preferred)
  • Experience supporting production systems under service levels and change control processes (preferred)
  • Experience with database migrations to AWS (preferred)
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for maintenance windows and production needs (preferred)
