Data Center Specialist II
Location:
Newport Beach, CA | Onsite: 4 Days per week | Rate: $45-49 an hour

Summary:
Seeking an experienced Data Center Specialist to support day-to-day operations of enterprise and colocation data center environments. This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining critical infrastructure, managing physical installations, supporting capacity planning, and ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of data center operations. Some travel may be required to Omaha, NE, as needed.
- Perform rack-and-stack installations, hardware deployments, decommissions, and infrastructure changes.
- Manage power, cooling, cabling, and environmental systems to ensure optimal data center performance.
- Maintain DCIM tools, asset inventories, rack elevations, capacity planning, and documentation.
- Coordinate with vendors and colocation partners on facility operations, remote hands, and infrastructure projects.
- Support server, storage, and network hardware across virtualized and physical environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve power, cooling, cabling, and hardware issues.
- Participate in disaster recovery testing, infrastructure migrations, and on-call support rotations.
- Develop and maintain operational procedures, diagrams, and infrastructure documentation.
- 8+ years of hands-on data center operations experience, including enterprise and colocation environments.
- Strong knowledge of power distribution, UPS systems, generators, cooling systems, structured cabling, and facility operations.
- Experience with DCIM tools, capacity planning, and asset management.
- Familiarity with Windows, Linux, virtualization platforms, and enterprise server/storage/network hardware.
- Ability to perform physical installation work, including lifting, racking, and cabling equipment.
- Excellent troubleshooting, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to support remote data center operations.
- Data center certifications such as CDCP, CDCS, DCCA, DCCS, or BICSI.
- Experience with data center monitoring platforms and colocation migrations.
- Knowledge of physical security, fire suppression, and data center compliance standards.
