Faculty job profile with those of academic rank of Assistant Professor The School of Computing and Analytics (SCA) at Northern Kentucky University (NKU) invites applications for one full-time faculty position in Cybersecurity and Information Technology at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) beginning August 2027. Salary and benefits are competitive.

We seek candidates with teaching and research expertise in cybersecurity. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, cybersecurity risk management, AI for cybersecurity, digital forensics, ethical hacking, threat modeling and incident response, software security, and data/information privacy. The position will primarily contribute to our B.S. and M.S. programs in Cybersecurity and IT, with potential contributions to other programs such as Computer Science and Applied Software Engineering.

As the only CAE in the Northern Kentucky / Greater Cincinnati region with both undergraduate and graduate programs in cybersecurity, NKU plays a central role in the area’s cybersecurity education and workforce development.

NKU is also the only CAE in Kentucky to host an NSA/NSF Gen Cyber grant program.

Each fall, NKU hosts its Cybersecurity Symposium , a signature event that attracts broad participation from the Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati communities. NKU’s B.S. and M.S. in Cybersecurity are high-quality programs that provide students with strong academic preparation and meaningful opportunities to engage with faculty inside and outside the classroom. NKU’s Cyber Defense student team has also excelled in regional and national competitions, giving faculty valuable opportunities to mentor and collaborate with talented, highly engaged students.

The SCA is part of the College of Informatics (COI) ( informatics.nku.edu ) and is housed in Griffin Hall, a landmark high-tech building. The school offers multiple degrees and operates as a combination of three program clusters:
Computer Science & Software Engineering (CS&SE), Cybersecurity & Information Technology (CYS&IT), and Information Systems & Analytics (IS&A). More information about the SCA is available also athttps://www.nku.edu/informatics/schools/sca/index.html Teaching:
Develop and teach courses in both face-to-face and online formats. The standard teaching load is three courses per semester for tenure-track Assistant Professors (including at least two upper-level courses). Tenure-track faculty may teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Research:
Maintain an active research agenda in cybersecurity and/or information technology, with emphasis on projects that engage undergraduate and graduate students in scholarly activities.

Service:
Contribute to the School, College, and University through committee work and professional engagement. Faculty are also expected to support initiatives such as the annual Cybersecurity Symposium and student organizations and events in cybersecurity and IT.On-campus presence:
This is not a remote position . The successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Northern Kentucky / Greater Cincinnati area.
