QA Specialist

This is a 6-month contract position for a QA Specialist based in Washington, District of Columbia.

• Design test cases and execute all types of testing (functional, integration, end-to-end) across multiple platforms (mobile, web, portal frameworks).
• Develop and maintain functional and regression tests to ensure code functions as designed; apply test methodology and product knowledge in test design and testing strategies.
• Create and implement test plans, including automated test scripts using established test tools, processes, and procedures.
• Coordinate, create, execute, and maintain test cases and automated functional test scripts to ensure quality control standards are achieved.
• Develop repeatable and scalable automation test suites; generate manual test scenarios and test cases in formats that can be automated.
• Support testing of multiple major releases in coordination with development teams and vendors while monitoring testing activities and key internal deliverables.
• Perform all technical testing efforts including functional automated test script development and test plan creation.
• Provide production support by investigating and recreating reported defects; work closely with the development team to ensure defects are addressed in a timely manner.
• Participate in design specification reviews and technical documentation reviews.
• Create testing summary reports clearly communicating testing results to management.
• Help prioritize defects using understanding of business requirements and customer needs.
• Conduct test case reviews and ensure requirements traceability and proper coverage.
• Participate in review sessions of business requirements and work with development teams to understand how product changes affect test case maintenance and QA testing environments.
• Contribute to the entire software development life cycle (SDLC – Agile and Waterfall) from initial business requirements through deployment and production support.
• Assist project teams in determining appropriate quality goals and acceptance criteria.
• Provide testing support for all software applications tested by the QA team.

• Required
  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 11+ years of experience providing defect status and quality metrics to project managers.
  • 11+ years of experience developing software quality assurance plans.
  • 11+ years of experience developing test plans and procedures.
  • 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and executing automated test cases from requirements using tools such as HP QTP/UFT, Test Complete, or Selenium.
  • 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and executing test plans and test cases using HP Quality Center/ALM for test case writing and defect management.
  • 8+ years of experience leading all technical testing efforts including functional and automated testing.
  • 8+ years of experience designing and supporting user interface testing and regression testing.
  • Advanced-level knowledge of writing SQL queries (5+ years).
  • Good understanding of Oracle 11G or 12c Database (3+ years).
  • Deep knowledge of healthcare operations business processes (5+ years).
  • Significant experience testing across browser web applications.
  • Experience with scripting SQL queries and working with multiple database interfaces.
  • Familiarity with standard web architectures.
