We are seeking a Senior Scrum Master to serve as a senior member of the project management team. This role is onsite at a government location in Colorado Springs, CO or Huntsville, AL and has very limited travel requirements

The Senior Scrum Master serves as the primary facilitator for multiple agile delivery teams, ensuring adherence to Scrum principles, removing impediments, and driving continuous improvement. This role requires advanced servant‑leadership, coaching ability, and hands‑on experience guiding teams through complex, multi‑sprint delivery cycles. Unlike traditional project management, this position focuses on enabling team autonomy, optimizing flow, and strengthening agile maturity across the organization.

As a senior practitioner, this individual is also expected to mentor less experienced Scrum Masters, lead cross‑team agile initiatives, and advise program leadership on delivery health and agile adoption.

• Facilitate Scrum Ceremonies – Lead daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives with discipline and consistency.
• Coach Agile Teams – Mentor developers, testers, analysts, product owners, and less experienced Scrum Masters on Scrum values, empirical process control, and self‑organization.
• Remove Impediments – Identify, track, and eliminate blockers that impact team velocity or delivery flow.
• Support Product Ownership – Partner with the Product Owner to maintain a healthy backlog, clarify requirements, and ensure alignment with business priorities.
• Drive Continuous Improvement – Use metrics (velocity, burndown, cycle time, throughput) to identify improvement opportunities and implement actionable changes.
• Protect the Team – Shield the team from scope creep, unmanaged external requests, and disruptions that undermine sprint commitments.
• Promote Agile Maturity – Champion and help set agile standards across the organization; lead scaling efforts (Scrum of Scrums, SAFe ceremonies, cross‑team coordination).
• Facilitate Cross‑Team Collaboration – Coordinate dependencies, manage integration points, and ensure transparency across teams and stakeholders.
• Ensure Delivery Transparency – Maintain sprint dashboards, radiators, and reporting artifacts that communicate progress and risks.
• Support Organizational Change – Help stakeholders adopt agile ways of working, including iterative planning, incremental delivery, and adaptive decision‑making.
• Mentor Scrum Masters – Coach and develop junior and mid‑level Scrum Masters, establishing consistent facilitation standards and shared agile practices across teams.
• Advise Program Leadership – Serve as a trusted advisor to program and customer leadership on release planning, delivery risk, capacity, and organizational agile health.
• Lead Agile Improvement Initiatives – Own and drive agile process improvement efforts that span multiple teams, from assessment through adoption and measurement.
• Must have an active DoW Secret Security Clearance.
• Must be able to obtain an active DoW Top Secret Security Clearance.

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience as a Scrum Master supporting agile software development teams, including time supporting multiple teams concurrently.
• Strong understanding of Scrum, Kanban, and Agile frameworks; able to articulate when and why to apply each.
• Demonstrated ability to coach teams, resolve conflict, and foster psychological safety.
• Experience using agile tools such as Jira, Azure Dev Ops, Rally, or Version One.
