Aboutthe Role
As an Underwriting Assistant in our Credit & Surety team, you will play a vital role in supporting the underwriting process for contract surety accounts. You'll be at the heart of the action — analyzing financial data, managing account documentation, and helping ensure our underwriters have everything they need to make smart, informed decisions. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop deep expertise in surety underwriting within a collaborative and high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities- Account Management:
Update CUA/Imaging systems with current underwriting information for both new and existing accounts, always ensuring accuracy and completeness - Financial Data Entry & Analysis:
Enter financial information into CUA, including preliminary analysis, and evaluate new and existing accounts to identify potential red flags or positive attributes - Credit Reporting:
Pull personal and corporate credit reports as needed to support underwriting decisions and assess creditworthiness of companies and their owners - Account Setup:
Establish new accounts in CUA, ensuring all pertinent documentation is captured and maintained in accordance with the SRCS Surety Group Procedure Manual - Documentation & Compliance:
Prepare and review General Indemnity Agreements (GIAs) and/or subordination agreements upon request, and maintain current credit information files in line with established procedures - Bid Log Management:
Prepare and maintain bid logs, recording results as received and updating records for approved bids and bid outcomes - Consent of Surety:
Review and approve consent of surety for agents on final bonds where there are no outstanding claims, all subcontractors and suppliers have been paid, and no lingering issues remain - Agency Relations:
Support agency appointment documentation and follow-up, address miscellaneous agent questions and concerns, and assist with year-end review and conditional bid approval requirements - Special Projects:
Participate in special projects and provide custom reports as delegated by the Regional/Branch Manager

Weare looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- Financial or Accounting Background:
Demonstrated experience or education in finance, accounting, or a related field, with the ability to interpret and evaluate financial statements - Quantitative & Financial Analysis:
Proficiency in analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and drawing meaningful conclusions to support underwriting decisions - Microsoft Office Proficiency:
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), with the ability to produce accurate reports and correspondence efficiently
