Role Summary

As the Head of Facultative Reinsurance, North America, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our facultative reinsurance strategy across the region. This leadership position demands a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of reinsurance, strong analytical skills, and the ability to build and maintain key relationships with clients and stakeholders. Rokstone Underwriters North America reserves the right to add to, eliminate or otherwise change any of the duties and responsibilities for this position.

Role

Accountabilities Strategy and Planning
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive facultative reinsurance strategy for North America.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align reinsurance goals with overall business objectives.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes, adjusting strategies accordingly.
Portfolio Management
  • Oversee the management and growth of the facultative reinsurance portfolio in North America.
  • Evaluate and assess risk exposures, ensuring optimal risk transfer solutions for clients.
  • Drive portfolio profitability through effective pricing and underwriting strategies.
Client Relationship Management
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, providing expert guidance on facultative reinsurance solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for business expansion and collaborate with the business development team.
Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead and inspire a team of reinsurance professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration across teams and departments.
Risk Analysis and Underwriting
  • Conduct thorough risk analysis and underwriting of facultative reinsurance opportunities.
  • Collaborate with underwriting teams to ensure adherence to established guidelines and standards.
  • Implement and maintain robust risk management practices.
Role Requirements
  • 10 + years of progressive experience in reinsurance, with a focus on facultative reinsurance.
  • Proven leadership experience, with a track record of successfully managing teams.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the North American insurance and reinsurance market.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong expertise in facultative reinsurance, underwriting, and risk management.
  • Proven leadership and team development capabilities.
  • Excellent strategic, analytical, and commercial decision‑making skills.
  • Strong negotiation, relationship management, and business development skills.
