Build your future with usOur Life Claims department is seeking a Life Claims Supervisor to oversee daily team operations and ensure the accurate, timely administration of life and annuity claims. This role provides leadership, training, and support to team members, serves as a resource for complex claims and system issues, partners with agents, beneficiaries, and internal stakeholders, audits claim payments for accuracy, and monitors service standards to ensure high-quality customer experience.
This position is based at our Headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio.
Hybrid work options are available in select departments at our Headquarters located in Fairfield, Ohio. Eligibility may vary based on your role, responsibilities, and departmental policies.
The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $36 hourly
. The pay determination is based on the applicant’s education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and individual performance.
- lead the daily activities of the Life Claims department, including distributing work items and monitoring productivity
- oversee the onboarding, training and development of new claim processors and act as a resource for less-experienced personnel
- collaborate with other departments to help resolve issues quickly
- administer Life and Annuity claims within scope of authority and review those above claim processor's authority limit to verify accuracy
- troubleshoot system issues and test system changes and updates
- perform quality reviews daily and claim audits on a monthly basis
- prepare monthly and quarterly reports as assigned
- recognize service gaps, recommend process improvements, and maintain procedural documentation
- lead meetings, training sessions and projects on behalf of the department
- contribute to business continuity plan and act as a backup for disaster testing
- participate in industry programs and share knowledge with staff
- interact with reinsurers, vendors, and agents in a professional manner
- act as a back-up for Life Claims Vice President as needed
- proven track record in Life and Annuity claims management and operations
- expertise in claims training and monitoring productivity
- demonstrated leadership and coaching ability
- expert knowledge of Life and Annuity products, contract language, and claim regulations
- proven ability to handle multiple priorities with professionalism and poise
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- knowledge of tax implications of qualified and non-qualified annuity payouts, including 1099 processes
- experience with Life Pro claims administration system is strongly preferred
- attention to detail and excellent customer service and organizational skills
- ability to effectively manage time and respond quickly to requests from leadership
- proficiency in Microsoft office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- a bachelor's degree in business or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Fellow, Life, and Health Claims (FLHC) and Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) industry designations or willingness to pursue
