JOB SUMMARY
The Senior New Business Specialist (Senior NBS) at Valmark plays a crucial role in managing and facilitating the efficient processing of life insurance applications through the new business and underwriting process. This position involves providing world-class customer service, acting as an advocate for Member Offices and their clients, and ensuring favorable underwriting and new business outcomes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Case Management
- Successfully manage over 100 pending life insurance cases from submission through payment, ensuring good order, ordering medical requirements, providing case status updates, and resolving new business issues.
- Navigate complex new business-related issues and serve as a resource for New Business Specialists.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert on specific new business topics, presenting updates to the New Business Team, and maintaining relevant sections on guidelines spreadsheets.
- Bring new ideas to the Operations Manager to improve processes or resources, aiming for internal and external efficiencies, and fostering innovation.
- Skillfully promote predetermined new business initiatives to increase usage, adoption, and awareness.
- Assist in the training of new hires for quick onboarding, ensuring they contribute to the team efficiently.
- Provide high-quality customer service, serving as the primary contact for top Life Insurance Member Offices in investigating and resolving New Business issues.
- Advocate for Member Offices with the carrier in a consumer and sales-friendly manner to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Deepen mutually beneficial relationships with Member Offices, carrier new business & underwriting staff, and internal team members.
- Add value to the new business process by skillfully negotiating creative solutions agreeable to the carrier, Member Office, and their client.
- Assist Operations Manager in completing new business-related projects providing value to the New Business Team.
- Mastery of Box, CRM, Connect, Zoom, Outlook and AI tools.
- Track record of providing quality customer service and navigating difficult situations in the New Business process.
- Consistently achieving goals.
- Superior understanding of carrier processes and underwriting guidelines.
- Expertise in PURE, eAPP, Streamlined Underwriting Programs, and eDelivery.
- Positive adaptation to change.

- Capacity to learn multiple areas of discipline.
- High attention to detail and expert-level organizational skills.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2-3 years of experience working in the Valmark environment or 7-10 years of related industry experience.
- Holds or actively working towards obtaining Life Insurance Producer License, FLMI, ALMI, and/or ACS designation, Series 6, 26, or 63 licenses.
- Associates or Bachelor's degree.
- Total Compensation of $65,000-$80,000 includes base + bonus
- This is a largely sedentary role
- Days and typical hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Some flexibility in working hours is allowed, but the employee must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status.
- Overtime may be required based on business needs.
- Up to 2 days WFH per week, per policy
