About

the Role

We are seeking an experienced Vice President of Catastrophe Modeling to join our Catastrophe Modeling team. This individual will play a senior technical, leadership, and client-facing role, providing catastrophe risk analytics in support of reinsurance brokerage, client advisory, portfolio management, and strategic initiatives.

The Vice President will work closely with reinsurance brokers, clients, actuarial professionals, and other analytics specialists to develop sophisticated catastrophe risk analyses and translate modeling results into actionable business insights.

The successful candidate will combine strong catastrophe modeling expertise with a practical understanding of property insurance and reinsurance. This position requires an individual who can move beyond the production of model results to explain what the results mean, what is driving them, and how they should inform reinsurance and risk-management decisions. The Vice President will also provide technical leadership and mentorship to catastrophe modeling staff, maintain high standards of analytical quality, and contribute to the continued development of Acrisure Re's proprietary analytics capabilities and technology-enabled solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead catastrophe modeling and portfolio risk analyses across major natural catastrophe perils, including hurricane, earthquake, severe convective storm, wildfire, flood, and winter storm.
  • Oversee modeling using Moody's RMS, Verisk, and other third-party or proprietary models, ensuring appropriate assumptions, model settings, financial structures, and quality control.
  • Analyse and interpret key catastrophe risk metrics, including AAL, PML, EP curves, occurrence and aggregate losses, and return-period losses.
  • Conduct sensitivity testing, model comparisons, portfolio concentration analyses, and validation of catastrophe model results.
  • Partner with reinsurance brokers to evaluate catastrophe reinsurance structures, including attachment points, limits, expected recoveries, retained losses, and overall program efficiency.
  • Support clients in evaluating reinsurance purchasing strategies, portfolio optimization, underwriting decisions, risk tolerance, and capital allocation.
  • Serve as a senior catastrophe risk advisor in client meetings, renewal discussions, technical reviews, and executive presentations.
  • Clearly communicate model assumptions, uncertainty, limitations, model changes, and key risk drivers to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support catastrophe event response by evaluating affected exposures, potential portfolio impacts, and reinsurance implications.
  • Provide technical leadership, quality assurance, and mentorship to catastrophe modeling staff.
  • Work with broking, actuarial, technology, and data science teams to enhance analytical tools, automation, dashboards, APIs, and proprietary catastrophe risk solutions.
