Job Description
Provide oral interpreting and written translation services for language minority students and their families. Serve as a liaison between language minority families FWCS schools and personnel.
Essential Functions- Provide interpretation and translation services to facilitate communications
among students faculty staff parents and others; utilize appropriate register of the language and intent of the speaker. Serve as a liaison between language minority families FWCS schools and personnel.
- Interpret for meetings conferences telephone calls counseling functions field trips assemblies and various other events and activities. Assist families with enrolling and completing required forms and applications.
- Translate written communications between FWCS personnel schools outside agencies and limited or non-English speaking families.
- Must be able to transport self to various locations within the FWCS district.

The employee is required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. They may be occasionally required to bend at the waist kneel or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job the incumbent is seated or walking incumbent will be required to lift carry and/or push students weighing 25 pounds or more in wheelchairs as assigned.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school. Must possess knowledge of the general aspects methods processes principles practices procedures and terminology used in assigned field. Must be proficient in English and at least one other language. Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
Preferred qualifications:
College degree training in the field of translation and interpreting recognized certification in translation and/or interpreting. Prefer candidates with two years experience in translation and/or interpreting and experience working with students or families in a social services or educational environment.
