Associate Attorney — Civil Litigation & Workers' Compensation Defense
We are looking for two dynamic Associate Attorneys to join our team. The ideal candidates will have experience in defending civil litigation and/or workers' compensation cases, though this is preferred and not mandatory. We value a strong commitment to providing high-quality legal services and a passion for growth. Key Responsibilities (Both Roles)- Conduct legal research on a variety of complex legal issues
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs
- Represent clients in court proceedings
- Take and defend depositions
- Assist with case management and trial preparation
- Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations impacting client cases
- Manage a caseload of civil litigation defense matters (which may include automobile accident defense, premises liability, product liability, construction defense, and general commercial/business litigation) from intake through resolution
- Communicate regularly with clients, insurance adjusters, and opposing counsel
- Maintain timely, accurate billing and case documentation in accordance with firm and client billing guidelines
- Manage a caseload of workers' compensation defense matters, representing employers and insurance carriers before the WCAB
- Appear at WCAB hearings, mandatory settlement conferences, and trials
- Review and evaluate QME/AME medical-legal reports and advise clients accordingly
- Negotiate case resolutions, including Compromise & Release and Stipulated Findings & Award
- Coordinate with support staff on EAMS filings (EAMS filing is handled by support staff, not required of the attorney)
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active member in good standing of the California State Bar
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to manage priorities effectively
- Detail-oriented with robust analytical skills
- Collaborative and willing to work as part of a team
- Civil litigation and/or workers' compensation defense experience is preferred, but not required
- Employment type:
Full-time - Compensation: $100,000–$170,000, commensurate with experience and position type
- Work arrangement:
Remote, hybrid, or on-site, depending on the candidate
