SLP is currently accepting applications for a Staff Attorney. We offer a Monday through Thursday, 38-hour work week with an exceptional benefits package including company-paid medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, a retirement plan with employer match, generous paid time off, parental leave, and SLP is an eligible employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. The salary range for this position is $85,000-$100,000 annually, with professional satisfaction assured and career growth opportunities.

This is a grant-funded position, in which you will be joining a passionate, collaborative team committed to making a measurable difference for seniors in our community.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to advising and counseling senior clients in one-on-one appointments on matters including elder abuse-exploitation, wrongful discharge from care facilities, evictions, consumer fraud, and long-term planning (powers of attorney), drafting related letters and documents, representing senior clients in settlement negotiations or in court proceedings as needed, and maintaining records as required by grant funders.

The ideal candidate should hold a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school, with three years or more experience practicing law (elder law and consumer matters a plus), a current license in good standing (State Bar of Nevada preferred), and be sensitive to the needs of the senior community. Bilingual candidates are highly encouraged. Additional qualifications include:

  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word and Outlook
  • Experience with a case management system, such as Legal Server or equivalent
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, organization, cooperation, flexibility, and creativity
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to effectively supervise, support, and give direction to designated staff members
