is seeking a highly motivated and experienced
Litigation Partner or Senior Counsel
to help grow our expanding
North Carolina offices
. The candidate must be a senior level attorney with a minimum of ten (10) years of significant civil and/or commercial litigation experience.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter capable of managing an active litigation case load and experienced in drafting and preparing pleadings, briefs, motions, and other litigation documents; managing discovery, including taking/presenting witnesses for deposition, oral argument, and trial preparation; conducting legal research, analysis and writing; and will possess excellent oral advocacy, communication, and writing skills. Candidate must have a reasonable book of portable litigation business.
Candidate is also expected to help grow our litigation presence in North Carolina and be an active networker in the community and various organizations.
- This position is available in any of our North Carolina offices
- J.D. from an ABA accredited law school
- Excellent academic credentials
- At least 10 years’ of significant commercial litigation experience, with construction litigation experience preferred.
- Excellent legal research and analysis skills
- Current member of the North Carolina bar with litigation experience in North Carolina federal and state courts
- Ability to learn and embrace new skills and best practices as the position evolves and Firm needs change
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team
- Ability to develop relationships and foster teamwork at all levels of the Firm
- Ability to manage a team of associates and paralegals
- Willingness to help mentor our skilled associates
Communication
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of internal and external clients, attorneys, and staff
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage confidential information and sensitive situations with tact and discretion

- Ability and confidence to identify and analyze issues, make decisions, and initiate actions/solutions
- Agility to respond to unexpected challenges, including proactively developing innovative solutions to complex problems while maintaining a professional demeanor
Professionalism
- Ability to maintain composure and demonstrate good judgment
- Valid authorization to work in the U.S.
