The Opportunity

CACI is seeking a Strategic Logistics Specialist to support a transformative mission within the Department of Energy (DOE). This is more than a traditional logistics role — you’ll work closely with senior leaders to help overhaul procurement and inventory management operations, reduce lead times, and empower field teams across the country.

You’ll serve a mission‑critical organization within the DOE, helping to standardize processes, implement cost-effective logistics solutions, and enhance operational performance across a national footprint. You will operate a state‑of‑the‑market, existing automated centralized logistics distribution/financial reporting system to support an initiative led by the Chief of Defense Nuclear Security.

Responsibilities

As an analyst supporting strategic logistics efforts, your responsibilities will include:

  • Shaping and contributing to a Procurement Services Program Plan aligned with program goals and the mission of the DOE.
  • Analyzing inventory and procurement processes, identifying gaps, and developing recommendations for increased efficiency.
  • Reviewing and compiling documentation to support data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Preparing concise, executive‑level briefings and deliverables for senior leadership.
  • Creating and refining workflows, reports, and analysis products that support operational improvements.
  • Applying logistics best practices and translating them into actionable strategies that drive measurable results.

You’ll work closely with stakeholders across locations and disciplines, using your experience and insight to help shape smarter, faster, and more effective logistics operations.

Qualifications

Required:

  • At least two years of experience providing logistics support to a complex organization in a diverse, dynamic, and potentially changing environment.
  • Active DOE Q clearance preferred, or an active DoD Top Secret clearance with a favorable background investigation completed within the past five (5) years.
  • Proven experience in gathering and synthesizing complex information into leadership‑ready work products.
  • Extensive knowledge of military‑style data reporting associated with managing military style supply operations or DOE supply operations, such as but not limited to reorder, contract types, inventory stratification and levels management, parts usage data/demand, Parts/systems allowance documents, Parts tracking, budget and financial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for assimilation/understanding of new software systems.
  • Confident and effective in briefing diverse audiences, including SES (senior Executive Service) and flag‑level leadership.
  • Demonstrated understanding of inventory control best practices and how to implement them.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and related procurement guidance.

Desired:

  • Five or more years of experience providing logistics support to a complex organization in a diverse, dynamic, and potentially changing environment.
  • Prior logistics experience supporting Defense operations, programs, or supply chains, such as U.S. Navy or U.S. Marine Corps.
  • Familiarity with Navy/USMC logistics systems, processes, and standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Relevant certifications such as DAWIA, FAC‑C, APICS (CPIM/CSCP/CLTD/CTSC), or Lifecycle Logistics (LCL).
  • Experience supporting Federal Government programs with strategic logistics, supply chain, or acquisition initiatives.
  • Familiarity with various contract and funding types (e.g., GWACs, BOAs, IDIQs, FFP, T&M, cost‑plus).
  • Strong skills in data analysis and visualization.

Experience applying Category Management or Strategic Sourcing principles in a government setting.
