SchedulePart-time, school-year position. Morning shift is 7:45 am – 9:00 am and afternoon shifts (MTThF 2:45 pm – 4:00 pm and W 2:30 pm – 3:45 pm).
Position SummaryThe Neighborhood Traffic Monitor helps Branson uphold its commitments under the Town of Ross Conditional Use Permit (CUP) and Transportation Demand Management Plan (TDMP) by supporting safe, orderly, and courteous traffic flow on streets surrounding campus during arrival and dismissal periods. Monitors combine active observation of driver behavior in the neighborhood, and serve as a visible, friendly point of contact between Branson and its neighbors.
This role directly supports Branson's pledge to the Town of Ross and neighboring residents to keep campus traffic net-neutral and to operate as a considerate, compliant neighbor.
- Monitor vehicle speed, stop-sign and stop-light compliance, queuing, and turning behavior on neighborhood streets used for school drop-off and pick-up.
- Observe and note compliance with Branson's designated routes and restrictions, including prohibited turns, restricted streets, and posted speed limits, as outlined in the Transportation Handbook.
- Discourage unsafe driving (speeding, blocking driveways or intersections, double-parking, illegal U-turns) through visible presence, hand signals, and direct, courteous communication with drivers.
- Record and report the license plate, vehicle description, and nature of any repeated or serious violations to the Director of Operations for follow-up with the family, employee, or vendor involved.
- Flag recurring problem locations or times to Operations so patterns can be addressed proactively (e.g., staffing adjustments, signage, communication to families).
- Serve as a courteous, approachable presence for residents on neighborhood streets; greet neighbors and respond respectfully to questions or concerns raised in the moment.
- De-escalate tense interactions between drivers, pedestrians, and residents, and de-escalate unresolved concerns to the Director of Operations promptly.
- Represent Branson's commitment to being a good neighbor consistent with the goals of the CUP, TDMP, and Transportation Handbook.
- Relay neighbor feedback (e.g., recurring congestion, specific driver concerns, safety suggestions) to Operations staff for consideration.
