Our client is a leading global freight forwarding and logistics provider with a strong international presence across air, ocean, customs brokerage, and supply chain solutions. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Customs Entry Writer to join their team in Torrance, CA.
Position OverviewThe Customs Entry Writer will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation, submission, and processing of U.S. Customs entries while ensuring compliance with all CBP regulations. This role is ideal for an organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced freight forwarding environment and has a strong understanding of import processes.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and submit customs entries in compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations.
- Review shipping documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and arrival notices.
- Classify products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
- Calculate duties, taxes, and applicable fees.
- Coordinate with importers, carriers, government agencies, and internal operations teams.
- Ensure timely clearance of shipments and resolve customs-related issues.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for compliance purposes.
- Monitor shipment status and provide proactive updates to customers.
- Stay up to date with changes in customs regulations and trade compliance requirements.
- 2+ years of Customs Entry Writing experience within a freight forwarding or customs brokerage environment.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. import regulations and customs clearance procedures.
- Experience working with customs brokerage software and ACE.
- Familiarity with HTS classification and duty calculations.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple entries and deadlines simultaneously.
- Customs Broker License (preferred but not required).
- Competitive salary of $55,000 – $65,000
