Work onsite all of the time
This position serves as a floating maintenance/labor resource to all departments. This position works under the general supervision of the Streets department supervisor, but may be assigned to work with other departments, as needed.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:- Assists all Town departments with maintenance and repair tasks, as needed.
- Clears weeds and vegetation from designated public spaces (sidewalks, street curbing, parks, golf clubhouse, etc.).
- Clears debris from town cemetery in preparation for lawn & landscape maintenance, in coordination with cemetery manager.
- Assists all town departments with moving vehicles, equipment, tools, and bulky items, as needed.
- Assists with upkeep and maintenance of town vehicles, equipment, tools, and other items, as needed.
- Assists in setting up, tearing down, and moving tables, chairs, and other equipment for events held in towns public spaces.
- All other duties as assigned.
This position works as part of various teams and is essential to departmental teamwork. Workplace environment involves frequent interruptions and time pressures. Tasks may be unscheduled and frequently change. Work requires accuracy, concentration, and vigilance. Some tasks may require working in close proximity to others.
The Town of Kershaw, located in southern Lancaster County, is a small, busy town located on US 521/601 midway between Camden and Lancaster. The town offers water, sewer, sanitation, street, and recreation services to about 1,700 residents, businesses, and neighboring facilities such as the Haile Gold Mine and the Kershaw Correctional Institution. The town has two historic districts, thriving “main street” and “farmers market” areas, a public golf course, and three public parks.
