Primary Job Responsibility:
The Transitional District Director is delegated and under direct supervision of the Superintendent to collaborate and assist as an educational leader in the Muhlenberg County Schools.


Essential Functions of Job Responsibility:

Help develop, implement and maintain strategic planning processes for district functions.

Visit classrooms, observe instruction and recommend any policies he/she deems conducive to the improvement of instruction in Muhlenberg County.

Assist in the identification of student achievement goals and implement programs designed to achieve and evaluate progress toward meeting those goals.

Help supervise the development of systems for budget development, the purchase of goods and services, accountability for expenditure of district funds, and analyses and reporting of the district's financial position to the board and the public.

Participate in all board meetings by assisting the current superintendent and the board in the development of the meeting agenda, by helping prepare background materials and analyses of issues brought to the board, and by helping prepare recommendations on all issues brought to the board for decision.

Help prepare and submit to the board recommendations relative to all matters requiring board action, placing before the board such necessary and helpful facts, information and reports as are needed to ensure the making of informed decisions.

In consultation with the current superintendent, inform and advise the board about the programs, practices and problems of the district and help keep the board informed of the activities operating under the board's authority.

Hold such meetings of teachers and other employees as necessary for the discussion of matters concerning the improvement and welfare of the district.

Help develop and implement plans for dealing with emergencies and help take the necessary steps in time of emergency to safeguard students, staff, residents, and school district property.

Keep informed of modern educational thoughts and practices by advanced study,

visiting school systems elsewhere, attending educational conferences, and by other appropriate means, and keep the board informed of trends in education.

Recommend and advise the board on the need for new and/or revised policies and procedures necessary for the efficient conduct of the district.

Assist the current superintendent and the board with the development of board policy and established rules, forms, guidelines and procedures to implement board policy.

Establish procedures for communication between and among the board, district staff, media, public and other business, governmental and educational organizations of the community, region, state and national.

Help supervise the development of systems for the recruitment, employment, evaluation, in-service, development, compensation, and benefits for all district staff.

Make recommendations for new facilities or additions to existing facilities, and

supervises the acquisition, construction, maintenance, renovation and disposal of all district facilities and properties.

In addition to the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must perform the following duties:

Comply with the state-approved Code of Ethics of the education profession and uphold and enforce rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations.

Articulate and facilitate the implementation of the mission and values of the Muhlenberg County Schools.

Safeguard the confidentiality of privileged information.

Prepare and maintain accurate and complete records and reports as required by law, state directives, district policy and procedural directives.

Maintain professional relationships and work cooperatively with employees, the

community and other professionals.

Perform other tasks related to areas of responsibilities as requested or assigned by the current superintendent and the Board of Education.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Proper Kentucky certification required (particularly superintendent certification). Experience as a Superintendent is required.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This position follows a 240-day contract.

Salary commensurate with years of teaching experience and rank, plus supplement and extended days, as noted on the Muhlenberg County Schools Salary Schedule.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy.
