SUMMARY
The role of the Shipping Supervisor is to direct the company’s regional shipping/distribution operations to ensure that the company’s supply network is sustained and operating in an efficient and effective manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Leads and promotes staff to perform duties in a safe and environmentally responsible manner applying rules, regulations and policies with fair and consistent practice.
- Verifies that safety checks are being completed on forklifts and drivers maintain safe driving during transit.
- Coordinates company truck driver and schedules routes.
- Leads internal efforts in developing implementation of best practices throughout the shipping operation.
- Engages team in safe practices and observations.
- Manage day to day shipping operations, measures performance for on-time, in-full delivery performance, shipping costs for all forms of transit, warehouse inventory management, warehousing productivity and quality, and workforce planning requirements.
- Adjusts trucks and crewing to maintain available shipping resources.
- Monitors and coordinates pipe wrapping and partial units.
- Investigates cause analysis issues for problem reconciliation and leads corrective action for complaints related to transportation, logistics handling and warehousing of finished products.
- Manages physical condition of warehouse, equipment, and yard.
- Reviews and verifies pipe inventory count and condition.
- Processes slow moving and faded obsolescence monthly.
- Completes required cycle counts on a quarterly basis.
- Prepares work order for repairs and requisites for replacement of equipment.
- Directs staff to support strategic customer care service objectives, enhance staff, team skills and competencies, and establish team performance objectives.
- Ensures that all carriers comply with legal, quality and safety standards.
- Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with activities of other functions such as production, sales, quality control and purchasing.
- Define the needed skills, tools and equipment to meet shipping department objectives.
- Establishes standard operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials and keeping warehouse inventory current.
Directly supervises Shipping department ries out supervisor responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, code of conduct and applicable laws.
QUALIFICATIONS5+ years’ supervisory experience preferred. Experience with building products warehousing and shipments. Excellent communication. Ability to translate your skills to other employees through training and mentoring. Hands‑on experience with departmental metrics, experience monitoring the quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of shipping operations. Familiarity with MS Excel and MS Office suite. SAP experience preferred. Forklift Certified preferred. Must be able to work Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm with on call capabilities and be able to work overtime based on business needs.
Fully onsite role. Must be able to commute daily to Booneville, MS facility. Sometimes required to work outside and be exposed to outside weather (e.g., rain, hot and cold temperatures).
High School Diploma or GED required with some post‑secondary education. Strongly prefer some shipping experience in plastics extrusion.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
