At Amazon, we prioritize health, safety, and well‑being above all else. There is nothing more important. To support this priority, Amazon is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Site Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager to join our team.

In this position you will partner with the site‑level operations team to execute company WHS policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. Leveraging lean principles and Kaizen events, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in Amazon’s processes, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for our associates. You will build trust with cross‑functional operations teams, influence change through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis, and serve as an effective communicator in both verbal and written formats.

You will instruct and train operations leadership and site WHS professionals, assist regional teams in incorporating our safety standards, develop a team of safety managers and professionals, and foster leadership development plans. You will also judge and assess safety talent to maintain appropriate bench strength for current and future business needs.

Responsibilities
  • Act as SME of local/regional regulations and company WHS policy.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Amazon Safety Policies.
  • Measure site performance against published requirements in safety policies; for all deficiencies, identify plans for site implementation and resolution.
  • Ensure safety record‑keeping and data integrity, providing Operations with accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives.
  • Deliver on‑time and quality projects to Operations.
  • Deep‑dive safety metrics; review incident weekly and monthly trends to identify high‑risk areas and justify resource allocation.
  • Audit record‑keeping practices and Global Safety Database entries to ensure compliance with global safety standards and local regulations.
  • Audit workplace organization and associate behaviors to ensure training, auditing, and scoring methods are accurate and consistent.
  • Manage and mentor Safety Managers and Safety Associates at the assigned site.
  • Engage Incident Prevention Specialists (IPS) and Site Leadership to drive long‑term strategic actions for incident reduction.
  • Perform targeted Kaizen events with Operations based on risks identified in each task (force, repetition, awkward postures).
  • Ensure site leadership and associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy.
  • Audit the quality, delivery, and effectiveness of all required safety training.
  • Review effectiveness of deployed safety tools and revise to ensure continual improvement.
  • Partner with corporate and regional field safety personnel to leverage global safety and environmental best practices into NA network standards.
Additional Job Elements
  • Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
  • Stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts.
  • Work in an environment where noise level varies.
  • Work in an environment subject to variable temperatures and weather.
  • Continuously climb and descend stairs (applies to sites with stairs).
  • Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response at the site.

Those without an adult First Aid, CPR, or AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross must obtain one within three weeks of the start date.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 7+ years of increasing responsibility in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations, or relevant experience applicable to the role.
  • 7+ years of increasing responsibility in people and performance management.
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.
  • Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends, as required to support direct reports and site needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional preferred.
  • Experience in a fast‑paced, dynamic organization.
