We’re looking for a
hands‑on Heavy‑Duty Operations Manager
to lead our towing and recovery operations. If you thrive in fast‑paced environments, know heavy‑duty equipment inside and out, and can lead teams under pressure—this role is for you.
This is a leadership position where you’ll directly impact safety, performance, and customer satisfaction across daily operations.
Why This Role MattersYou won’t just manage from behind a desk—you’ll lead from the front. This role is critical to keeping operations running safely, efficiently, and professionally in high‑stakes environments.
What You’ll Do- Lead and manage a team of heavy‑duty tow operators, dispatchers, and support staff
- Oversee daily towing, recovery, and roadside operations (wreckers, rotators, lowboys, etc.)
- Coordinate dispatch, job assignments, and response priorities
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, DOT regulations, and company procedures
- Maintain fleet readiness: inspections, maintenance, and equipment availability
- Handle escalated customer, law enforcement, and commercial account issues
- Recruit, train, coach, and hold team members accountable
- Step in during major recoveries or emergency situations when leadership is needed
- 5+ years of experience in towing, heavy‑duty recovery, transportation, or fleet operations
- Proven leadership experience managing teams in high‑pressure environments
- Strong knowledge of heavy‑duty towing and recovery equipment
- Ability to make fast, sound decisions in emergency roadside situations
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and safety standards preferred
- Experience working with municipalities, police rotations, or insurance contracts
- Hands‑on operation of heavy wreckers, rotators, or recovery equipment
- Background in safety program management or fleet maintenance coordination
- Ability to walk, stand, and move throughout tow yard and shop areas for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, or move equipment or parts up to 30–40 lbs as needed during inspections or operational support.
- Ability to climb in and out of heavy‑duty trucks, trailers, and recovery equipment for inspections.
- Ability to bend, kneel, and crouch when reviewing vehicle damage, equipment setup, or safety compliance.
