* Job Description:
** The City of Idaho Falls is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Airport Director. In this position you will provide senior-level leadership, oversight, and management for the safe, secure, efficient, and customer-focused operation of airport facilities. This position assists the Airport Director in planning, directing, and evaluating airport operations, maintenance, safety, security, emergency preparedness, regulatory compliance, capital projects, budgeting, and stakeholder coordination.
The Assistant Airport Director serves as a key advisor to the Airport Director and may act on behalf of the Airport Director in their absence or during emergencies. The position requires strong operational judgment, regulatory expertise, financial discipline, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in a complex, twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week airport environment.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the general direction of the Airport Director.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED Provides direct supervision to the Airport Operations Manager, Airport Security Manager, Facilities Manager, and other assigned staff. Provides indirect leadership to other department staff and divisions.
** Essential Functions
** Assists the Airport Director in the overall administration, management, and operation of the Idaho Falls Regional Airport.
Leads assigned divisions, which may include airport operations, terminal operations, landside operations, maintenance, facilities, public safety, security, emergency management, airport technology, and asset management.
Through subordinate staff, oversees daily airport operations to ensure safe, efficient, secure, and compliant services to pilots, passengers, tenants, and the general public. Provides excellent customer service at all times.
Ensures compliance with applicable local, state, and federal rules, regulations, and laws.
Develops, administers, and maintains regulatory plans directly or through subordinate staff, including, but not limited to, the Airport Certification Manual, Airport Emergency Plan, Airport Security Program, Irregular Operations Plan, stormwater plans, Wildlife Hazard Management Plan, Snow and Ice Control Plan, Safety Management System Plan, and other regulatory documents.
Through subordinate staff, oversees airfield inspections, condition reporting, Notice to Airmen coordination, safety inspections, and corrective action plans.
Leads, coordinates, or supports airport emergency response activities, irregular operations, severe weather response, incident command functions, and operational recovery.
Facilitates, prepares, and implements training programs. Ensures timely training is conducted and completed with a high degree of effectiveness and thoroughness.
Coordinates with the FAA, TSA, airlines, tenants, law enforcement, fire/rescue, emergency management agencies, contractors, consultants, vendors, and other airport stakeholders.
Develops, implements, and monitors short-, medium- and long-term operational goals for assigned divisions and staff to further the mission of the airport and city.
Supports capital improvement planning, project coordination, construction phasing, operational impact reviews, and facility maintenance planning.
