Reporting to the Associate Warden of Custody & Operations at a medium custody male correctional facility, this position is responsible for first line supervision of Correctional Housing Unit Manager I’s.

• Assuming responsibility for the overall management of the correctional housing unit.
• Providing leadership and guidance to subordinate staff and ensuring staff are alert, properly trained, informed and prepared to perform their job responsibilities under a variety of conditions.
• Coordinating work schedules to ensure shift coverage, implementing operational procedures and ensuring rules and regulations are followed according to policy.
• Managing a facility on occasion of being the highest-ranking custody staff on the premises or the Officer-in-Charge (OIC).
• Ensuring that staff are fully trained and that proper conduct, actions, and procedures are being followed.
• Maintaining facility security through regular inspections to ensure compliance with governing regulations and standards relating to facility maintenance, health, and safety of offenders.
• Communicating effective instruction/direction during drills, searches, and in emergencies situations.
• Responding to emergency situations such as; distress codes, escapes, and transportation of offenders.
• Conducting and/or supervise searches of offenders, offender living areas and work areas for contraband.
• Investigating and acting when appropriate regarding security issues, incidents, disputes, and complaints.
• Preparing, reviewing reports and completing performance evaluations on subordinate staff.
• Serving on a variety of institutional committees as needed.

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the Minimum Education and Experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/Management Preferences are not required but applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

• Documented report writing skills.
• Documented knowledge of case management practices, or supportive counseling techniques and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments.
• Documented knowledge of Prisons’ Policy and Procedures and/or Facility Operations.

Salary Range: $39,244 - $68,679

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business needs.

Warren Correctional Institution is a mixed custody facility that houses minimum, medium, and close custody offenders.
