Summary GENERAL

SUMMARY:

Responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and strategic direction of the surgery center and operationally responsible for the Elkhorn campus including, but not limited to, services provided in the Medical Office Building. Ensures safe, high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care delivery in compliance with federal and Nebraska state regulations, including oversight by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), CMS, and applicable accrediting bodies (e.g., AAAHC, Joint Commission).

Partners with the Medical Director, Governing Board, and health system leadership to optimize operational performance, financial outcomes, regulatory compliance, and patient/physician satisfaction.

PRINCIPAL

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Directs and oversees daily Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) operations to achieve clinical, operational, and financial performance goals.
  • Develops and manages staffing models and schedules aligned with patient acuity, case mix, and budget targets.
  • Ensures effective onboarding, orientation, and ongoing staff development consistent with health system standards. Has supervisory/managerial responsibility for registered nurses, surgical technicians, nursing managers, and nursing supervisors.
  • Leads departmental meetings, committees, and interdisciplinary collaboration while maintaining consistent leadership presence.
  • Partners with the Medical Director to ensure safe, evidence‑based clinical care and a culture of patient safety. Analyzes quality, safety, and patient outcome/experience data; implement improvement action plans.
  • Oversees infection prevention, sterilization, and disinfection processes in compliance with CDC, CMS, and DHHS guidance.
  • Develops, implements, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Leads and coordinates regulatory surveys, inspections, and accreditation activities.
  • Develops and manages operating and capital budgets, including payroll, productivity, and expense oversight. and efficient use of resources, and consistent compliance to budgetary and fiscal controls.
  • Drives cost containment and resource optimization while maintaining quality and safety. Conduct cost-benefit analyses to support operational and strategic decisions.
  • Oversees facilities safety, equipment maintenance, and operational readiness. Manages inventory, supply chain processes, and vendor relationships to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and performance management for ASC staff. Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, coaching, mentoring, retaining and evaluating staff.
  • Fosters a culture of teamwork, accountability, and high performance. Addresses employee concerns and support physician engagement to drive satisfaction and growth.
  • Maintains professional competency and knowledge of ASC trends, regulations, and best practices.
  • Participates in continuing education and professional organizations; promote knowledge sharing across teams.
