DESM Grocery ManagerThe DESM Grocery Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations within the Dancing Eagle Supermarket grocery department, ensuring efficient inventory management, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor planning, and overall operational excellence. This non-exempt leadership role plans, orders, receives, stocks, and manages grocery products in accordance with company standards to maximize sales and gross profit while maintaining a safe, organized, and customer-focused environment at the Marketplace in Casa Blanca.
The Grocery Manager serves as a key carrier and is responsible for opening and closing the store, cash register operations, cash reconciliation, inventory control, computer data entry, and ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations. The position requires a commitment to Laguna Development Corporation's Core Values, policies, and procedures, while serving as a positive role model for employees and providing exceptional customer service by resolving complaints, meeting customer needs, and ensuring products and displays are merchandised effectively to drive sales and profitability.
This position also provides direct supervision and leadership to grocery department staff, including employee scheduling, training, performance management, disciplinary actions, and recommendations regarding hiring and termination. The Grocery Manager ensures all employees receive proper training and supervision and oversees the correct ordering, receiving, unloading, storage, rotation, and display of merchandise. Additional responsibilities include participating in the LDC Management Capacity Program and annual Management Development Leadership Series (MDLS), working flexible schedules including weekends and holidays, and providing guests with accurate information regarding services, promotions, amenities, and special events.
Qualified candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, two to three years of relevant experience with demonstrated leadership ability, and the ability to obtain and maintain Serv Safe certification. The role requires basic computer, cash register, reading, and writing skills; the physical ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and lift or move up to 50 pounds;
strong problem-solving, planning, organizational, and decision-making skills; and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, background check, and maintain a valid New Mexico driver's license.
