The Director of Marketing Operations - Project Management & Planning is responsible for defining and leading the strategic vision, operating model, and execution framework for how marketing work gets done across the organization. This role goes beyond managing project delivery - it establishes project management as a core business capability that drives alignment, prioritization, and measurable impact across the marketing function.
You will oversee a team of project management experts, while partnering with senior marketing and cross-functional executives to ensure that marketing investments are executed with rigor, transparency, and speed. As a leader within Marketing Operations, you will report to the VP of Marketing Operations and play a critical role in shaping how marketing translates strategy into execution at scale.
Strategic Leadership & Operating Model Ownership:
Define and evolve the marketing project management operating model - including workflows, prioritization frameworks, standards, and the supporting technology roadmap. Continuously improve processes to increase speed, quality, and cross-team collaboration, and lead the change management needed to embed new ways of working and drive adoption across teams.
Organizational Alignment & Executive Partnership:
Act as a strategic partner to the marketing leadership team to align on priorities, trade-offs, and execution plans. Define and track the service levels and success metrics for execution (e.g., on-time delivery, cycle time, delivery volume, resource utilization), elevating reporting from project-level tracking to cross-initiative insights that inform executive decision-making.
Cross-Team Coordination:
Maintain a clear view of active marketing initiatives - campaigns, launches, and programs - and lead the process that prioritizes, sequences, and resources them against business impact.
Cross-Functional Program Leadership:
Directly lead select high-priority initiatives that span multiple marketing teams - owning planning, execution, and delivery for programs that cross team boundaries and require centralized coordination.
Annual Marketing Planning & Budget Ownership:
Facilitate the annual marketing planning process, partnering with individual marketing teams to plan activities, headcount, and program budget for future years. Help drive capacity planning and scenario modeling when needed to align resources to strategic priorities, facilitate trade-off decisions, and ensure plans ladder up to overall marketing and business objectives.
Team Leadership & Capability Building:
Lead and develop a team of project management experts. Build a high-performing organization with clear career paths, role clarity, and scalable ways of working. Champion the application of AI across marketing project management - automating status reporting, surfacing risks and capacity conflicts earlier, and streamlining intake and planning. Partner with the marketing technology team on tool adoption and contribute to the marketing organization's broader AI operationalization efforts.
Bachelor's degree required in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field; a Master's degree or MBA is a plus
10 - 15+ years of experience in project/program management or marketing…
