Job Description

We are looking for a qualified Service Manager with two or more years of automotive dealership experience to join our team. The Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dealership’s service department to ensure customer satisfaction, profitability, and efficient workflow. This role involves managing service advisors, technicians, and support staff; ensuring compliance with manufacturer standards; and driving growth in service revenue through effective leadership and customer-focused strategies.

Candidates must be able to pass a drug test, background check, and DMV check.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day functions of the service department, ensuring productivity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Implement service processes and best practices to optimize workflow and technician efficiency.
  • Monitor and manage service appointment schedules, shop capacity, and repair timelines.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise service advisors, technicians, BDC reps, and support personnel.
  • Set performance goals, conduct evaluations, and provide coaching and development opportunities.
  • Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes accountability, collaboration, and customer service.
  • Ensure all customers receive prompt, courteous service and are kept informed throughout their vehicle’s service process.
  • Handle escalated customer concerns or complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Review customer satisfaction scores (e.g., CSI reports) and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Holds weekly departmental meetings to help set tone for sales and service goals
  • Meet or exceed department revenue goals, gross profit targets, and expense controls.
  • Maximize profitability through effective labor rate management, parts sales, and service upsells.
  • Analyze financial statements, service department reports, and KPIs (e.g., hours per RO, effective labor rate).
  • Ensure all repair work complies with manufacturer guidelines, warranty policies, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant work environment.
  • Oversee proper documentation of repair orders, warranty claims, and service history.
  • Maintain strong relationships with OEMs, warranty administrators, and parts suppliers.
  • Stay updated on manufacturer programs, service bulletins, and recall procedures.
  • Maintains daily required housekeeping in service department to promote morale and quality standards; devises and implements a schedule of training for technical, productive, non productive, and non-technical personnel
  • Develops systems of quality check of performance and tagging of special jobs
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); associate or bachelor's degree in business, automotive technology, or a related field (preferred).
  • 2–5+ years of experience in an automotive service department, including 1–2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • ASE certification and/or manufacturer training certifications are highly desirable.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail is a must
  • Strong people skills in order to train, manage, and direct service team so that they can meet goals and quotas
  • Must be able to combine customer service skills with leadership skills

  • Strong computer and internet skills, including experience/skills with a CRM system
  • Must have a good grasp of internet processes and understand how to evaluate the effectiveness of advertising
