Executive Vice President of Inpatient Services

As Executive Vice President of Inpatient Services, you will play a pivotal role in shaping clinical excellence, operational performance, and strategic growth across inpatient programs.

Position Summary

The Executive Vice President of Inpatient Services provides executive leadership for inpatient operations, with a strong focus on clinical quality, patient safety, and operational excellence. This role partners closely with senior leadership to drive strategic initiatives, optimize performance, and ensure the delivery of patient- and family-centered care.

You will lead the development of system-wide strategies, oversee financial performance, implement data-driven improvements, and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards—all while fostering a culture rooted in collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

This role requires regular travel throughout the Kansas/Missouri region, including frequent day trips and periodic overnight stays. Additionally, some travel beyond the regional area may be required. Candidates should be comfortable with a travel schedule that may represent approximately 10–15% of working time or more.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Leadership & Growth

Lead strategic planning initiatives aligned with organizational goals

Develop business plans and drive service line expansion

Report on performance related to clinical activity, quality, and safety

Partner on annual operating and capital budgets

Analyze financial and operational data to inform staffing and resource allocation

Optimize efficiency and performance across inpatient services

Performance & Quality Management

Establish and monitor key performance metrics across sites

Identify opportunities for improvement and implement innovative solutions

Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, state, and federal regulations

Leadership & Team Development

Guide and support directors, managers, and clinical leaders

Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement

Champion patient- and family-centered care environments

Stay current with industry trends and best practices

Implement systems and processes that enhance care quality and safety

Lead improvement initiatives with measurable outcomes

Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

Present data and insights clearly to executive leadership

Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners

Promote transparency and alignment across all inpatient sites

Qualifications

Education

Master’s degree or equivalent required

Master’s in a related health field preferred

Experience

Minimum of eight years in a senior healthcare leadership role required

Experience at the Senior Vice President or Executive Vice President level preferred

Background in inpatient behavioral health or hospital settings strongly preferred

Licensure/Certification

Licensure in a related field preferred

Valid driver’s license and current auto insurance required

Strong executive leadership and operational management expertise

Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills

Ability to lead complex, multi-site operations and initiatives

Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and resource optimization

Proven ability to drive change, innovation, and performance improvement

Commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction

Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
