SENIOR MANAGER OF INDIVIDUAL GIVING AND DEVELOPMENT
Position Overview
The New Museum is seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven fundraiser to lead our individual giving program and help shape the future of one of the world's most forward-thinking contemporary art institutions. As Senior Manager of Individual Giving and Development, you will steward a $3M+ portfolio, cultivate transformational donor relationships, and bring visionary philanthropists inside the world of art that defines our time.
This is a full-time position that serves as a frontline fundraiser for development initiatives, responsible for building and maintaining donor relationships, increasing individual support and engagement with the Museum, and providing oversight of development operations in support of excellent service to donors. The Senior Manager of Individual Giving and Development oversees a significant portfolio of donors and prospects, cultivates and stewards gifts, develops dynamic materials and communications strategies, in support of annual development goals and the museum's long term strategic plan.
She/He/They are responsible for ensuring the success of the individual giving annual goal and ensuring efficiency in development operations.
Responsibilities include high-level communications, cultivation, and support of patron groups to ensure growth and secure annual financial goals; preparation of materials to support outreach, gifts, and ongoing engagement; overseeing and actioning benefits fulfillment; research and strategic oversight of development plans and projected growth areas, and management of development operations.
She/He/They work closely with the Vice President of Advancement, Deputy Director of International Partnerships and Director of Development, and Vice President of Campaigns and Philanthropy to advance strategies that support deep relationships between donors/prospects and the New Museum and to realize the department’s financial goals. She/He/They is a key staff member representing the Museum at donor events. She/He/They reports to the Deputy Director of International Partnerships and Director of Development and supervises the Membership and Annual Fund Manager.
Areas of Oversight
- NM Councils and Fellow-level Membership:Be the primary point of contact for New Museum patron groups including the Artemis Council, Producers Council, and other high-level Councils. Ensure the realization of annual fundraising goals for Councils through engagement programs, benefit fulfillment, communications, invoicing and processing of gifts.
- Donor Stewardship:Maintain relationships with donors and prospects via regular communications, personalized service, and benefit fulfillment. Prepare materials for donor meetings and interactions; organize follow-up steps from meetings to support further engagement. With the development staff, maintain materials and donor files with accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality.
