JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for managing the administrative functions, as well as the operations and maintenance of the city's water distribution and sewer collection departments, along with their infrastructure systems. This position has direct supervision over assigned personnel.

MAJOR DUTIES

Schedules and assigns work orders to department personnel; monitors work to ensure quality and timeliness.

Prepares federal, state, and local audits and consistently ensures compliance requirements are met

Prepares staff work orders as needed.

Develops, implements, and enforces standard operating procedures, including safety policies and procedures.

Trains, assigns, directs, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines employees.

Investigates and resolves customer complaints.

Assists in the development and administration of the Water and Sewer budget; monitors and approves expenditures to ensure compliance with the budget.

Monitors water quality.

Manages the operation and maintenance of equipment.

Reviews reports completed by subordinates for accuracy and completeness.

Researches and makes recommendations regarding the acquisition of new equipment.

Ensures compliance with state and federal standards.

Coordinates activities with other city departments.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

Knowledge of water and sewer infrastructure construction, maintenance, and repair principles.

Knowledge of relevant state and federal regulations.

Knowledge of safety principles and practices.

Knowledge of budget management principles.

Knowledge of personnel management principles.

Knowledge of computers and job-related software.

Skill in oral and written communication.
