Position Information

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of significant achievement in a broad-based development, sales, marketing, corporate/foundation relations, planned giving, annual giving, nonprofit management, or related relationship-based revenue generation role.
• Demonstrate success securing or materially advancing gifts, grants, sponsor ships, or philanthropic commitments of $500,000 and above.
• Previous supervisory, management, or significant program leadership experience.
• Knowledge of multiple areas of fundraising, including annual giving, planned giving, corporate and foundation relations, donor pipeline development, campaign readiness, and donor engagement.
• Proven success building productive, long-term relationships with university administrative and academic leadership, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, corporate and foundation representatives, and friends of the University.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others and work collaboratively across multiple teams and constituencies.
• Excellent customer service focus and ability to interact with students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, corporate and foundation partners, and friends of the University.
• Requires a high level of commitment, judgment, trust, discretion, and enthusiasm.

• Development experience in higher education, preferably within a campaign or campaign-planning environment.
• Experience with Blackbaud Fundraiser Performance Management or similar CRM .
• Experience developing and implementing enterprise philanthropy strategies involving annual giving, planned giving, blended giving, corporate/foundation relations, donor pipeline development, stewardship, and donor upgrade strategies.
• Demonstrate knowledge of cultivation, solicitation, proposal development, and long-term donor engagement strategies.

Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.

Position Purpose

The Executive Director for Enterprise Philanthropy leads institution-wide philanthropic channels that support pipeline development, donor engagement, and revenue growth across University Advancement. This role oversees Annual Giving, Planned Giving, and Corporate and Foundation Relations, ensuring these functions operate as integrated enterprise strategies rather than separate channels. The position also carries a strategic portfolio tied to enterprise priorities, including planned and blended gift prospects, corporate/foundation relationships, and high-capacity non-alumni or institution-wide prospects.
