Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs is responsible for managing functions related to student success outside of the classroom. The mission of the division builds on the University’s Mission regarding engaged citizenship, life-long learning, leadership, and intercultural competencies. Student Affairs provides intentional co-curricular experiences to support academic learning. Departments reporting to the Vice Chancellor are Accessibility Resources and Services, Campus Activities and Programs/Elliott University Center, Career and Professional Development, Dean of Students Office, Housing and Residence Life, Intercultural Engagement, Leadership and Civic Engagement, Military-Affiliated Services, Recreation and Wellness, and Student Health Services including Medical Services and Mental Health and Well-Being.

The Division Office is staffed with two Associate Vice Chancellors, the Director of Student Affairs Research & Strategic Initiatives (with one reporting staff member), the Business Officer (with one reporting staff member), and an executive assistant.

Position Summary

The Associate Director is a full-time professional who leads several key strategic initiatives for the Division of Student Affairs. Working in the Office of the Vice Chancellor, the position advances the Spartan Experience co-curricular initiative, serving as the primary liaison with students and campus partners in promoting student engagement. The Associate Director also leads the Spartan Family Engagement program, supervises a graduate assistant, and manages Division scholarships.

In addition, the position coordinates with their supervisor on Division strategic priorities focused on advancing work critical to student and organizational success. Functions include assessment, evaluation, and research activities; divisional storytelling including annual reporting, data visualization, social media; other co-curricular initiatives; student organization advising; and related committees.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in higher education administration, counseling, business, or related field from a regionally accredited institution; or bachelor’s plus equivalent and relevant experience.
