Graduate Assistant (20 hours/week; academic-year appointment)
The Graphics Center Graduate Assistant supports day-to-day operational leadership for the SAAGraphics Center, a self-service creative and print-production space in the new University Center. The Graduate Assistant manages the Center's operations, supervises its student staff, and helps visiting students make effective use ofself-service creative tools such as Canva and the Adobe Creative Suite. The position is ideal for a graduate student who combines strong customer-service and organizational skills with an interest in creative and design technology.
RESPONSIBILITIESOperations & Service
- Support daily operation of the Graphics Center, ensuring a welcoming, well-run, and professional environment.
- Manage the print-production workflow across both walk-in and online (Warrior Link) channels, including order triage, turnaround communication, and quality control.
- Assist with maintenance equipment (printers, laminator, cutter) and self-service workstations; track and reorder supplies.
- Ensure consistent cashless-payment processes, and serve as a point of contact for Center service questions.
- Maintain the Center's external-vendor resource binder for specialty items outside its production capabilities.
- Assist visiting students in navigating self-service tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) — providing guidance rather than performing design work on their behalf.
- Directly supervise Graphics Center student staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
- Ensure adherence to ESU Licensing & Branding Guidelines.
- Assist the Director with budget tracking, reporting, and assessment of Center usage and service quality.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current enrollment in a graduate program at East Stroudsburg University, in good academic standing.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and customer-service skills.
- Comfort with, or willingness to learn, Canva, the Adobe Creative Suite, and print-production workflows.
- Ability to work independently and manage a service space with minimal supervision.
- Experience or coursework in graphic design, digital media, communications, or a related creative field.
- Prior supervisory, leadership, or customer-service experience.
- Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds occasionally, and operate print-production equipment. Accommodation scan be requested through the Office of Accessible Services Individualized for Students (OASIS).
This position is a graduate assistantship offering a stipend and tuition waiver in accordance with ESU's graduate assistantship guidelines. Specific details are available through the Office of Graduate Admissions and Extended Studies.
