The Director of Development exists to provide strategic leadership and accountability across Favor International’s U.S. fundraising functions, ensuring that our teams work together effectively to achieve organizational revenue and relationship-development goals.

Working closely with the Executive Director and organizational leadership, the Director of Development helps establish fundraising priorities, revenue goals, staffing strategies, and long-term development plans that provide the resources necessary to advance Favor International’s mission in Africa.

• Provide leadership, strategic direction, management, and accountability across assigned U.S. fundraising departments, including Regional Development and Church Engagement.
• Directly supervise, coach, and evaluate fundraising leaders and team members within assigned departments.
• Establish clear departmental and individual expectations, revenue goals, activity metrics, and performance standards.
• Conduct regular meetings and one-on-one reviews with direct reports to evaluate progress toward goals, address obstacles, strengthen performance, and identify opportunities.
• Develop the leadership and fundraising capabilities of team members through coaching, training, mentoring, and professional development.
• Manage performance issues and corrective action plans in partnership with Human Resources.
• Foster a collaborative, mission-driven culture characterized by excellence, accountability, stewardship, communication, and shared responsibility for organizational fundraising goals.
• Ensure that fundraising departments collaborate effectively rather than operating in silos.

• Develop and oversee comprehensive fundraising strategies for the departments under the Director’s leadership in alignment with Favor International’s organizational priorities and annual funding needs.
• Translate organizational revenue goals into clear departmental strategies, targets, benchmarks, and action plans.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of existing fundraising channels and recommend changes, investments, staffing, or new approaches where appropriate.
• Identify opportunities to expand Favor’s donor base, church relationships, major-gift pipeline, geographic reach, and overall fundraising capacity.
• Ensure appropriate strategies are in place for donor acquisition, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, retention, and upgrading across relevant fundraising channels.
