About the RoleWe have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Account Director to join Ashfield Med Comms. In this role, you’ll provide strategic and operational leadership across a portfolio of high-profile publications and medical affairs accounts, serving as a trusted partner to senior client stakeholders and leading Client Services teams to deliver exceptional work.
You’ll oversee complex, multi-stakeholder programs spanning global publications and broader medical affairs initiatives, ensuring scientific rigor, operational excellence, and strong financial performance. As a senior member of the Client Services team, you’ll also play an important role in developing our people, growing existing partnerships, and supporting new business opportunities.
What You’ll Be Doing- Provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple publications and medical affairs accounts, ensuring high-quality, compliant delivery.
- Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, providing strategic counsel and proactive solutions to complex challenges.
- Oversee publication programs, including abstracts, posters, manuscripts, congress activities, and related deliverables, alongside broader medical affairs initiatives.
- Partner closely with Scientific Services and cross-functional teams to develop and deliver strategic medical communications plans aligned with client objectives.
- Champion operational best practices, identifying opportunities to strengthen delivery, improve efficiencies, and support organic account growth.
- Own account financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, profitability, reconciliation, invoicing, and SOW development.
- Lead and develop multiple Client Services team members.
- Lead and support business development activities, including proposals, RFPs/RFIs, presentations, budgets, and onboarding of new business.
- Partner with senior Client Services leadership on resourcing, team development, training, and new service offerings.
- Ensure teams maintain strong cross-functional partnerships and effectively manage risks, priorities, timelines, and stakeholder expectations.
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Extensive medical communications agency experience, with strong expertise across publications and medical affairs.
- Demonstrated success leading multiple complex client accounts and providing strategic counsel to senior stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of publication planning and delivery, medical affairs communications, industry standards, and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience leading and developing Client Services teams, including managing managers and/or multiple direct reports.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, profitability, SOW development, and account growth.
- Experience leading or contributing to new business development, including proposals, pitches, and RFP/RFI responses.
