Position Overview:
Novelis – Guthrie, KY is seeking a Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician to join Novelis for our recently announced expansion/greenfield start-up Recycle Center in Guthrie, KY. Technicians play a critical role in improving the reliability of our heavy electro-mechanical equipment and working with operations and other maintenance employees, assisting in troubleshooting systems, coordinating project work, and maintaining equipment functionality. Technicians report to the Maintenance Leader.
Normal Work Schedule
Technicians might work a variety of schedules over time. Technicians on shift will work rotating 12-hour shifts throughout the month. Depending on breakdowns, outages, or special projects, overtime will be required.
Responsibilities:
- Complete work in a safe, timely, professional manner.
- Analyze production processes or part problems and work to devise and implement solutions and improvements.
- Complete PMs as assigned.
- Troubleshoot and improve electro-mechanical systems.
- Lead all aspects of projects from the scope of work through implementation.
- Document activities in the CMMS and other business system tools.
- Mentor other craftspeople.
- Monitor and maintain instrumentation and control devices.
- Plan work orders for electrical/electronic projects, including materials, drawings, work directions, bill of materials, vendor documents/materials, crafts needed, and estimates of labor and raw materials – preferred.
- Familiarization with all necessary test equipment and accurate troubleshooting procedures to assist or initiate action in any equipment-related problem.
- Participate in and lead the start-up and testing of new electrical/electronic equipment, instrumentation, and control devices.
- Plans and coordinates electrical/electronic activities during planned equipment outages.
Qualifications:
- Completed High School or GED. Associate degree in a technical field preferred.
- Have Journeyman, Vocational School, or Apprentice qualifications.
- Have a minimum of 5 years of mechanical experience in the industry.
- Can interpret drawings, including mechanical and fabrication drawings and fluid systems.
- Have a solid understanding of combustion control systems – preferred.
- Have excellent working knowledge of PLCs and ladder logic.
- Have a solid understanding of basic hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Can analyze production processor part problems and work to devise and implement solutions and improvements.
- Able to perform basic arc welding.
- Able to perform basic rigging/lifting.
- Have the ability to troubleshoot and repair low-voltage circuits and equipment along with AC and DC motor drives.
- Able to build and install electrical panels, conduits, and wiring up to 600V with an excellent solid understanding of the National Electrical Code – preferred.
- Able to use a volt/ohm/milliammeter and disconnect/reconnect components up to 480V.
- Ability to work in a team environment toward the accomplishment of objectives.
- Ability to use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or other business system tools.
- Have good written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Considerations:
Project experience is desirable, including developing Scopes of Work, tracking/reporting project status, coordinating contractor activities, supervising installations, and verifying functionality.
