The Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing the total Quality Assurance and Process Metallurgy systems to ensure high levels of product quality, process consistency, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This role will lead quality improvement initiatives, support metallurgical testing and analysis, and partner closely with manufacturing leadership to optimize production performance and maintain compliance with quality standards.
Position Summary
The Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing the total Quality Assurance and Process Metallurgy systems to ensure high levels of product quality, process consistency, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This role will lead quality improvement initiatives, support metallurgical testing and analysis, and partner closely with manufacturing leadership to optimize production performance and maintain compliance with quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Quality & Operational Leadership
- Lead and maintain the site Quality Assurance System with a strong focus on process improvement, quality control, and cost reduction
- Develop and implement quality standards, testing procedures, inspection methods, and reporting processes
- Identify critical process control points and establish effective sampling and monitoring procedures throughout manufacturing operations
- Direct continuous improvement efforts across operations, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams
- Audit manufacturing processes, operator documentation, and quality procedures to ensure compliance and operational consistency
- Investigate quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Conduct and oversee metallurgical investigations related to physical characteristics, properties, and processing of metals and alloys
- Lead microscopic, x ray, x ray diffraction, spectroscopic, and mechanical testing activities to assess material integrity and manufacturing performance
- Support development and optimization of melting, hot working, cold working, and heat-treating processes
- Ensure all laboratory and metallurgical testing is conducted in compliance with established professional and industry standards
- Provide technical guidance and metallurgical expertise to manufacturing leadership, engineering teams, and commercial partners
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, sales, and customer teams to maintain product quality and customer satisfaction
- Support technical problem resolution related to manufacturing quality and customer concerns
- Collaborate on product development initiatives, new applications, and manufacturing process optimization
- Help establish quality standards for raw materials, work in process inventory, and finished goods
Required
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of experience in Quality Management or a related industrial manufacturing environment
- Experience working within ISO 9001 quality systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities within manufacturing operations
- Experience working cross functionally within operations, engineering, and quality environments
- Customer facing experience with the ability to effectively communicate technical information
- Experience with in metals, copper, or heavy industrial manufacturing environments
- Metallurgical laboratory or materials testing experience
- Experience with Gensuite or related quality management systems
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and process optimization
