Position Summary:
The Recut Technician supports manufacturing operations by cutting small quantities of replacement garment components when defects or irregularities require recut work. This role ensures replacement parts are cut accurately, matched to the correct material shade, and prepared according to recut instructions and manufacturing specifications. The position requires attention to detail, knowledge of garment components and fabric characteristics, and the ability to work independently with minimal direction.
Responsibilities:
In this role you will be required to...
Recut Preparation & Execution
- Read and interpret recut instructions, manufacturing specifications, and style details to determine replacement part requirements.
- Cut replacement garment components using scissors or an electric knife based on approved patterns and recut needs.
- Ensure replacement parts are cut accurately, and in alignment with size, style, and material requirements.
- Determine material shading and match replacement components to the correct material shade.
- Identify fabric defects, irregularities, or unusable material conditions that require recut action.
- Develop familiarity with material and fabric characteristics to support accurate replacement work.
- Load and unload rolls of material to and from the recut table.
- Learn and identify the various components of a garment to support accurate recut preparation.
- Maintain organized recut materials and work area to support workflow efficiency and accuracy.
- Work independently or as part of a team while following established instructions and production priorities.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of manufacturing operations.
Skills and Abilities
:
- Basic verbal communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently or within a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Basic math skills (arithmetic).
- Ability to read and determine measurements using a ruler, yardstick, or tape measure.
- Strong attention to detail when reviewing specifications, selecting materials, and cutting replacement parts.
- Ability to identify differences in fabric shade, texture, and visible defects
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior manufacturing, cutting, or fabric-handling experience is helpful but not required, depending on business need.
- Positional:
May be required to walk or stand for extended periods. Must be able to grasp or manipulate small items for assembly. Lift 10 to 40 pounds periodically. - Gross Mobility:
Rare climbing, or crawling. Infrequent balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. - Sensory:
Rare tasting/smelling. Regular use of color vision. Occasional use of far visual acuity, depth perception, and field of vision. Frequent use of near and midrange visual acuity and visual accommodation. Including ability to learn material/fabric characteristics using sight and touch. Frequent to constant talking in relation to job.
