Extrusion Technician

About the Role:

To coordinate the setting and readiness of the extruders, dies and associated equipment in line with production requirements. Support the Engineering PPM's and Technical NPD activities and lead the OLM process. Provide training resources within the extrusion department. Provide cover for Operators as required.

Role Responsibilities:

• Coordinate the preparation of tooling and equipment to ensure the smooth running of changeovers in line with the planning schedule and production targets.

• Develop working procedures (SOP's) with the process team, ensuring that all extruder equipment is cleaned, prepared and set to standard conditions.

• Perform and coordinate all machine changeovers and setting activities.

• Act as a trouble shooting resource if line operating teams are unable to resolve running problems.

• Liaise with Engineering to coordinate & perform all deep-cleaning activities in line with the PPM routines.

• Coordinate and perform operator led maintenance activities.

• Be a focal point for the Process Engineering team, particularly when running trials.

• To provide assessment, training and development to the shift extrusion teams, including new recruits, to ensure the right skill levels are reached and maintained.

• Effective communication and co-operation with the other shift technicians, maintaining standards and improving overall performance of the department.

• Ensure that all activities are carried out to regulatory and internal OHSE guidelines.

• Ensure all data is recorded and maintained as required.

• Provide support to operators and line management.

• Undertake such other duties as may be required by the Plant Manager.

• Comply with all company policies, procedures and statutory requirements.

• Report all defective equipment and unsafe working practices to management.

• Maintain working areas to high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping.

• Maintain effective internal working relationships.

• Assist with other assignments and in other business areas as required by management.

• Complete occasional internal training related to quality and production applications.

What you'll need:

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred

• 2-3 years' experience working with extruders.

• Experienced in monitoring and control of resources to achieve daily schedules

• Some knowledge of continuous improvement techniques

• A clear understanding of OHSE requirements
