The Paint Supervisor is responsible for leading all paint department operations and supporting offline assembly and other manufacturing operations as needed. This role combines production leadership with hands-on technical expertise in paint processes, equipment troubleshooting, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Paint Supervisor is accountable for achieving safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity objectives while ensuring paint systems operate efficiently and consistently meet customer requirements.
The position serves as the primary technical resource for paint process optimization, defect reduction, equipment reliability, and environmental stewardship within the facility.
Job Responsibilities:
* Lead daily operations of two paint lines and assigned offline assembly operations to ensure production, quality, and delivery targets are achieved.
* Develop and manage paint and assembly production schedules based on customer demand, WIP inventory, finished goods inventory, and available capacity.
* Monitor, troubleshoot, adjust, and perform minor repairs on paint line equipment, conveyors, pumps, spray systems, ovens, pretreatment systems, and related process equipment.
* Serve as the primary technical resource for paint process troubleshooting, identifying and resolving coating defects, process variation, equipment failures, and production disruptions.
* Track and maintain Work-In-Process (WIP) and Finished Goods (FG) inventory levels for paint and assembly operations.
* Manage raw material inventories including paint, chemicals, packaging materials, and consumables to support uninterrupted production.
* Establish, monitor, and report departmental KPIs including throughput, quality, scrap, downtime, OEE, inventory accuracy, labor efficiency, and on-time delivery.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on paint quality, process capability, equipment reliability, productivity, and cost reduction.
* Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Operations teams to implement process improvements, new product launches, and corrective actions.
* Support paint process development activities including parameter optimization, process validation, trial runs, and documentation updates.
* Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permit requirements, waste management procedures, air emissions controls, and chemical handling requirements.
* Monitor paint chemistry, process controls, and operating parameters to maintain consistent product quality and regulatory compliance.
* Investigate quality concerns and customer complaints using structured problem-solving methodologies and implement effective corrective actions.
* Develop, train, coach, and mentor paint and assembly team members to improve technical knowledge, safety awareness, and operational performance.
* Ensure all standard operating procedures, work instructions, preventive maintenance activities, and process documentation are maintained and followed.
* Support additional manufacturing operations and special projects as assigned to meet business needs.

Job Qualifications:
* Strong experience in industrial or automotive paint operations, including both solvent-based and water-based systems.
* 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience, preferably in paint, coating, finishing, or automotive manufacturing environments.
* Strong technical knowledge of industrial paint systems, paint application equipment, curing processes, and coating defect analysis.
