Heavy Equipment Operator

Job Summary

We are looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Scotts Miracle‑Gro team in Cave City, KY. The operator will work at a plant operations facility, preparing organic mixes using heavy equipment, ensuring a continuous supply of materials and maintaining equipment safety. Hourly pay typically starts at $19.80 per hour and is paid weekly.

• Operate heavy equipment such as trucks, front-end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, snowblowers and other pieces of equipment.
• Prepare organic mixes and relocate piles to ensure proper segregation of materials.
• Supply production with a continuous supply of material.
• Monitor stock piles for excessive heat, turn stockpiles, extinguish small fires, and add the proper amount of water for production use.
• Clean, maintain and secure all equipment according to company policies and procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least one year of experience using medium and/or heavy equipment.
• Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, climb in and out of equipment, and sit for long periods.
• Ability to work in dusty, dirty environments and all weather conditions, including heat and cold.
• Safe operation of heavy equipment.
