Laborer

The Laborer plays a vital role in maintaining safe, clean, and efficient operations within the Steel Mill environment. This position involves performing a variety of physical and manual tasks to support the job site, including cleaning, fueling, greasing, and assisting with equipment operations. This role requires strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills, along with the ability to work in physically demanding and industrial conditions.

The ideal candidate is safety-oriented, dependable, and willing to contribute wherever needed to support overall mill operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Clean cat walks, stairs, and screens using a shovel and other various equipment
• Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
• Grease and fuel equipment
• Perform all types of manual tasks such as lifting and moving
• Serve as a spotter or safety man
• Must have full range of motion to use tools as necessary
• Must be able to be on their feet or seated for extended periods of time
• Employee must be able to walk distances of up to 1/2 miles or less to and from equipment
• May operate a skid steer, man lift, and forklift
• Possess range of motion to check blind spots
• Lift and operate handheld portable fire extinguisher

Work Environment:

This job takes place in a Steel Mill setting, requiring a sense of high-level safety reverence using the required PPE for the environment.

Physical Demand:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and listen in potentially noisy indoor and outdoor environments. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk on both flat and uneven surfaces, sit, climb stairs, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

This job requires the employee to lift at least 50 pounds on a regular basis.

Required

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Driver's License
• Willingness to work in a Steel Mill
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred but not required
