Crane Operator
This role involves operating overhead cranes and forklifts in a large metal warehouse to support receiving, shipping, and material handling activities. The crane operator ensures that machine operators receive the correct materials, follows proper loading, rigging, and operating procedures, and maintains a strong focus on product knowledge, accuracy, and safety. Because the equipment and metal handled are large, heavy, and high in value, careful attention to detail and strict adherence to safety standards are essential.
Responsibilities- Operate overhead cranes to move, lift, and position large metal materials safely and efficiently within the warehouse.
- Operate forklifts to transport metal products and materials to and from storage, shipping, and production areas.
- Support receiving and shipping activities by loading and unloading materials according to established procedures.
- Set up machine operators with the correct materials, ensuring accurate identification and delivery of products based on customer specifications.
- Learn, follow, and properly implement all loading, rigging, and equipment operation procedures.
- Maintain a strong understanding of product types, sizes, and specifications to ensure orders meet customer requirements.
- Inspect equipment before use and report any issues or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Handle large and high-value metal materials with extreme care to minimize damage and ensure quality.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures, including proper use of rigging, lifting techniques, and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient operations.
- Minimum of 2 years of combined education or work experience operating cranes.
- Minimum of 1 year of forklift operating experience.
- Proficiency in operating overhead cranes in a warehouse or industrial environment.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts to move heavy metal materials.
- Knowledge of loading, rigging, and material handling procedures.
- Strong attention to detail to follow customer specifications and prevent errors.
- Ability to pass a physical examination for vision, hearing, and mobility.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Commitment to safety when working with large, heavy, and high-value materials.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with banding and securing metal products for storage or shipment.
- Background in general machine operation or machine operating in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new procedures in a growing operation.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with shipping, receiving, and production teams.
- Reliability and willingness to work overtime as needed to meet production demands.

This position is on 2nd shift, typically from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with initial training on 1st shift for approximately 3 to 6 months. You must be comfortable working overtime, with an expected workload of 50 to 60 hours per week due to strong order volume and growth. The role is based in a large, open, new warehouse that is not climate controlled, so you will need to come prepared for varying temperatures and conditions throughout the year.
The environment involves working around heavy equipment, overhead cranes, forklifts, and large metal materials, requiring consistent use of appropriate safety gear and adherence to safety procedures.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brandenburg, KY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.50/hr.
