Machinist

Overview

Machinist position in Walton, KY. Completes machine adjustments, modifications and repairs based on plant needs. Job duties may vary by level of proficiency; different levels are attained by passing tests.

• Continuously perform all required tasks in a safe manner, adhering to established safety rules and procedures; take immediate action to correct and/or report unsafe conditions and hazards
• Keep work area clean and organized per standards
• Follow all applicable food service policies and procedures
• Follow PPE policies and wear required safety gear (steel-toed shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, hair nets/beard nets, etc.)
• Make plate cylinders and ensure they fit appropriately down to each detail
• Manufacture gears, verify correct dimensions using gear shaper
• Repair machine breakdowns as needed
• Build up, grind and reweld shafts
• Weld various items (steel, cast iron, aluminum, stainless steel); braze or weld brass
• Handle sheet metal work such as making guards and ink pans
• Work on special projects as assigned
• Respond to radio calls as needed
• Handle dismantling and rebuilding work
• Grind rubber rolls
• Make parts as needed, ensuring specifications are correct
• Cut shafts
• Draw blueprints and sketches of work
• Keep equipment clean
• Meet or achieve job goals set forth by management

• High school diploma or GED
• Machinist trade school experience is preferred
• 3–5 years of applicable work experience required
• Solid understanding of company machinery to handle job duties
• Ability to set up and run lathes and milling machines (Bridgeport)
• Will make cylinders and ink pans, chaise threads, make complete parts and determine correct specifications

Compensation includes starting pay rate of $34.37/hour. Available shift: 7:00am–7:00pm with rotating days; schedule details provided by management. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance and other well-being resources. Specific benefits vary by location.
