Kingsford Manufacturing in Burnside, KY is a producer of 100% American-made charcoal briquets and the leading manufacturer of charcoal in the United States. The Production Associate will work in a dynamic, team-based environment to safely produce high‑quality charcoal at the correct cost. Responsibilities include receiving raw materials, operating high‑speed packaging equipment, palletizing finished products, performing quality checks, implementing improvements, and contributing to overall plant success.

The starting hourly rate is $21.11. Shift differential pay for the 2nd shift is $0.65 and $0.85 for the 3rd shift. The Production Worker will receive day‑shift training for two weeks and then be deployed to rotating openings across departments and shifts based on business needs. This position requires shift flexibility and the potential for overtime.

The Production Associate is responsible for processing, manufacturing, packaging, storing, and distributing charcoal briquettes. The Production Worker may be assigned to any of the following areas of the plant:

• Retort – converting wood waste to char used in briquettes
• Briquetting – combining char and other raw materials to create briquettes
• Packaging – operating machines that package finished briquettes into bags
• Warehouse – storing finished bags for shipment to customers or other warehouses

Essential functions include:

• Press control buttons to activate machinery and equipment
• Adjust machine function, flow, speed, and temperature controls
• Clean, oil, and perform minor adjustments or repairs on machinery
• Move materials and products between storage and work areas
• Pour, scoop, or dump specified ingredients into machines before operation
• Feed ingredients and products into machines by hand or conveyor and unload finished product
• Disassemble equipment for repair or part replacement
• Monitor the production line for problems such as pile-ups, jams, or defects
• Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur; clear jams and remove defective materials
• Examine, measure, and weigh materials or products to verify conformance to standards
• Package product appropriately for outbound shipping
• Stock and sort product for packaging operation; replenish supplies
• Operate palletizing equipment to wrap finished products on pallets for warehouse storage or shipping
• Load and stack finished packages onto trucks using a forklift
• Operate powered industrial trucks to move materials and products around the facility, including loading finished product into trailers
• Adhere to all safety and quality standards, report unsafe conditions, near‑misses, and injuries
• Deliver against daily, weekly, and monthly production targets
• Leverage technology (e.g., email, production schedules, troubleshooting guides, job aids) to stay informed
• Enter data into computer systems and monitor instrumentation
• Count and record finished and rejected packaged items during operation
• Maintain housekeeping and workplace organization
• Complete routine and preventive maintenance for area equipment
• Maintain inventory storage areas, including participation in cycle counts or full inventory counts as needed
• Perform other duties as required by management
