Job Overview

Responsible for operating equipment to include grinders and tumblers. Operator will be expected to setup equipment including grinder, bone elimination. Operator will also be expected to open raw material while performing visual inspection for foreign material. Raw material will then be ran through a grinder and ground to specified weight. The raw material will then need to be labeled and transported to the blender for further processing.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged standing, sitting, walking, reading, writing, talking, use of a computer.
  • Hearing ability for verbal communication via telephone systems, and person–to–person.
  • Clear concise speaking ability to provide information and instruction.
  • Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms, and other printed materials and information.
  • Flexibility and body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, standing, reaching, lifting, and moving objects and equipment.
  • Able to meet the job's physical demands with assistive or adaptive devices or reasonable accommodations.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste/smell; and frequently required to climb and must be able to reach all levels in the bay. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and regularly lifts to 50 pounds.

Environment:
  • Work is indoors and prolonged standing and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts; extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and requires that hearing protection be always worn in production areas at all times.

Duties and

Essential Job Functions:
  • Assemble and disassemble grinder.
  • Open raw materials needed for production
  • Grind raw material to specified weight
  • Monitor fat percentage and adjust as needed.
  • Ability to identify visual defects and make correction as needed and identify and distinguish between colors.
  • Must be able to work in areas of varying temperatures.
  • Relieve other associates as necessary.
  • Maintain good housekeeping.
  • Regular attendance
  • Promotes, adheres, and is responsible for Food Safety and Quality
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a compliant and ethical manner and in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and local laws as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Follow all company Safety Rules and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and adhere to JSA guidelines.
  • Responsible for Food Safety and Quality Culture.
  • Follow daily set up and/or shutdown procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Must be able to work any shift, overtime, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
