TSG - The Sheridan Group is seeking a detail-oriented Machine Operator to support our Manufacturing & Production operations. In this role, you will set up, operate, and monitor manufacturing equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality output. Responsibilities include performing routine maintenance, conducting quality checks, troubleshooting minor mechanical issues, and following all safety and production protocols. You'll work in a collaborative, high-performance environment that values initiative and critical thinking, with opportunities to contribute to impactful projects and grow your skills within a mission-driven organization.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor printing and finishing machines to produce high-quality printed materials according to job specifications
- Review job tickets and production schedules to confirm materials, tooling, and machine settings before each run
- Perform routine machine changeovers, adjustments, and basic troubleshooting to maintain consistent output and reduce downtime
- Inspect printed pieces for color consistency, registration, alignment, and finishing accuracy, making necessary machine adjustments
- Follow established quality control procedures, accurately document production data, and report issues promptly to supervisors
- Handle paper, substrates, and other materials safely and efficiently, including loading, unloading, and staging for upcoming jobs
- Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment to keep machines in optimal operating condition
- Adhere to all safety, housekeeping, and operational standards in a busy manufacturing and production environment
- Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to meet production deadlines and support continuous process improvement
- Support a collaborative, high-performance culture by communicating clearly, taking initiative, and contributing ideas to improve workflow and output
Required Skills
- Operation of printing and finishing machinery
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting and adjustments
- Quality control and print inspection
- Understanding of print specifications and job tickets
- Basic computer skills for production tracking
- Measurement tools use (ruler, calipers, gauges)
