As a Tooling Specialist, your mission is to keep manufacturing operations running smoothly by ensuring the right tooling, work holding, and consumable resources are available when needed. This position supports production readiness through inventory management, tooling preparation, organization, and continuous improvement of tooling systems and processes. You will report to the Machine Shop Manager.
You will
- Manage tooling, work holding, insert, and consumable inventory to ensure production readiness.
- Review production schedules, setup sheets, and tool lists to anticipate tooling requirements and prevent shortages,
- Stage, assemble, inspect, and prepare tooling and work holding for upcoming machining operations.
- Maintain accurate tooling records and support the implementation and administration of the tool management database.
- Organize and maintain tooling storage areas using 5S and visual management principles.
- Order and replenishing tooling, fixtures, and consumables based on production demand and usage trends.
- Distribute tooling and work holding to machinists and operators to support efficient production flow.
- Monitor tooling usage and inventory levels to improve asset utilization and inventory accuracy.
- Provide general machine shop support, including tooling maintenance, organization, and data entry.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and operations teams to support continuous improvement and operational excellence.

You have at least 3 years of experience, working in a machine shop, manufacturing, or related industrial environment.
- You have a strong mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of tooling, work holding, shop equipment, and safe material handling practices.
- You have experience safely lifting, moving, and handling tooling, fixtures, work holding devices, and other production materials.
- You are proficient with computer systems used for inventory management, record keeping, and communication, including MS Office applications, ERP systems, and tool management software.
- Preferred:
- Prior manufacturing or shop floor experience including familiarity with tooling, work holding, tool crib operations, inventory control, 5S, or lean manufacturing principles.
