This is a fully remote position supporting audiovisual projects across Solutionz locations and customer environments nationwide. While the role is primarily remote, occasional travel to customer sites, Solutionz offices, or project locations may be required based on project needs.

Description

The AV Programmer is responsible for developing control system code that enables customers to seamlessly interact with installed audiovisual and unified communications systems. This role works closely with Project Management, Engineering, Design, installation teams, and customers to translate project requirements into reliable, intuitive control experiences.
The AV Programmer develops graphical user interfaces, programs and tests control systems, supports system commissioning, troubleshoots complex AV environments, and helps establish programming standards and templates across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop custom graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for control system touch panels.
  • Develop system integration programs for Crestron, Q-SYS, Extron, and other supported control platforms.
  • Gather programming requirements from project teams and customers.
  • Review project scopes, bills of materials, CAD drawings, and other project documentation to fully understand system functionality and customer expectations.
  • Develop touch panel layouts and control flow documentation that define how users will interact with installed systems.
  • Submit interface layouts and programming flow documentation to the Project Manager and Designer for review prior to final programming and system deployment.
  • Program and test control system code prior to equipment delivery and onsite installation whenever applicable.
  • Work remotely and onsite with installation teams to complete programming, resolve issues, and support final system commissioning.
  • Provide remote programming support to service technicians when future system issues arise.
  • Troubleshoot complex audio, video switching, control, and integrated AV systems.
  • Help develop and maintain programming standards, logic flows, reusable modules, and templates.
  • Maintain organized programming files, documentation, and project records.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and a clean, organized work environment when working at Solutionz or customer locations.

Qualifications
  • 4+ years of audiovisual programming, control system programming, systems integration, or related AV engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with Crestron, Q-SYS, and Extron programming platforms required; AMX experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of audiovisual signal flow, control systems, networking fundamentals, and integrated AV technologies.
  • Experience designing custom graphical user interfaces (GUIs) and developing control system programming for commercial AV environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret Statements of Functionality (SOFs), Bills of Materials (BOMs), CAD drawings, system schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Experience troubleshooting, commissioning, and supporting complex audiovisual and unified communications systems.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work independently, and meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong customer service abilities.
  • CTS, Crestron, Q-SYS, Extron, or other AV industry certifications preferred.
